ryzen cooling and whatnot

this is just a post for those of you who are recently upgrading to a ryzen series cpu and arent familiar with how overly hot amd shit runs

let me explain this to you so you can understand.  look at your case.  how many fan ports does it have?  if the answer was less than 3, you will need a new case.  when you see those gamer cases with like 3 140mm fans up front?  yeah.  that's just what a ryzen needs to like boot Windows.

this is sort of why i like my mac m1 more, because its almost exactly as fast and has one tiny like 5cm fan somewhere inside it that never comes on

but yeah, you want like noctua or be quiet dual 120mm on the CPU, and at LEAST 3 120mm or if you can fit them 140mm exhausting out the case.  most atx motherboards dont have 3 case fan hookups so check that first and buy the stupid gaming elite moron board from whatever place.

consider when buying, will your RAM fit under the CPU fan you're buying w/ respect to the layout of your motherboard.  in most configurations at least with asrock and gigabyte, things need to be rearranged to slightly sub-optimal push+pull vs push+push cpu fan arrangement.

a side-mount fan hole and front air input are good too.  i leave the mesh covers off because i'm a slob and don't care about shit getting in my case, im more concerned about air flow and not causing my cpu to chernobyl.

overall it seems to be a waste of time to invest in more than 3200mhz memory, in my personal experience, 3600mhz for example yields something like an overall 1% performance improvement and is not worth the money, heat, or dumb-ass heatsinks.

another note, buy a cheap heatsink, they are all the same, then buy nice fans, it will save you money.

if you want, you can also buy a 65watt ryzen, that will run significantly cooler.  this is what i originally had and then upgraded myself out of my nice cool and quiet configuration.
